DoodlePet would like to use: your location, contacts, photos, microphone, and to see everything you type.

This is normal, and that is the problem. Lots of real apps ask for far more than they need. Every "Allow" you tap is a piece of you handed over. The pile you leave behind is your .

You decide. Every switch is yours.

Flip a switch to share that with DoodlePet. Watch your footprint grow and shrink. Try to get it as small as you can and still let the app do its one job.

The one question to ask

You do not need to know how any app works inside. You only need one question, every single time something asks for your stuff.

Try it on real things. Tap your guess, then see.

If the answer is no, you are allowed to say no. Saying no to one permission almost never breaks an app. And you can change your mind later in your settings.

Why a small footprint is safer

This is not about being scared. It is about being in charge. Here is what shrinking your footprint actually buys you.

If a company gets hacked, it can only lose what it collected. Share less and there is less of you to lose.

Some apps make money by selling clues about you to strangers. Your data is the product. Less data, less of you on sale.

Location and what you type can map your whole day. That is powerful, and not every app should hold it.

The one rule: before you tap Allow, ask if the app needs it to work. If it does not, say no. Your footprint is yours to keep small.

Want to see your own real footprint? On a grown-up's device you can open the phone or browser settings and look at App permissions. Every app there shows what it can reach. You are allowed to turn off anything that does not need to be on.
